louisa: 14 months

I want to do a little update on Louisa since she is now almost 15 months and I have barely documented some pretty big milestones for her. She took her first steps right around the 13 month mark (my latest walker!) and I didn't mind. She's so light and it helps keep my baby - a baby - for longer. She only weighs 18 1/2 pounds and at her check-up, she was in the 3% for weight and 93% for height. She's a string bean and has no use for food and wants to nurse, nurse and nurse some more. All the live long day! I've stopped with the nursing almost completely except maybe once a day or so. I have been trying to fatten her up by having her drink half and half, putting spoonfuls of butter and olive oil in everything. I think she's starting to gain a little weight but she just burns so many calories with the constant moving! A lesson for all of us, I'm sure...
She does love Pirate Booty, though. I took her to the grocery store the other day with Fritz while William was at school. This grocery store has a child care (let's talk about that for a hot second: it's amazing!) but they have to be 2 to go in, so Louisa and I went on a little grocery store date. I let her roam the aisles behind me. I pulled out my phone to take some pictures to text to David and just then, she spotted the Pirate Booty and ran over and made this face. I died laughing. It's a legit "Pleeeeeeease!" face.
I finally captured a video of this little bunny walking around the house. She really moves fast and loves to shuffle around the house, carrying random items that she finds on the floor. This stage is really fun and we LOVE her!

  3. My youngest is super thin, so here is my secret: Greek Gods strawberry-honey yogurt. It has 300 calories per cup, 14 g. fat, and 8 g. protein (granted, also has 36 grams of sugar, but it's honey, so slightly less awful, perhaps?). Anyway, that has literally been the only thing that has kept my little guy on the growth charts! Good luck!

    1. Great tip! Thanks Rachael!!! I will definitely check it out. My doctor said, "I don't even care if you feed her ice cream all day. She just needs to gain weight." Haha. So... maybe I'm a little jealous of my baby. :)

    2. My daughter hovers around 9% on weight and a 80% for height. She's now 4.5 years old. My doctor has never shown concern and I'm not concerned either. He says that is just her body type. I only worry that if she gets sick she won't have any reserves but she's generally a healthy kid. But I've heard some moms via online media mention trying to have kids raise that percentage. I'm really curious what the cutoff is and why the worry if she's functioning, healthy and meeting milestone marks. Hopefully that isn't too personal a curiosity. She is a gorgeous girl.
