packing up

After seven moves in eight years of marriage, you'd think I'd be a pro at this moving thing. Turns out moving gets harder the more kids you have! I swear, for every one thing I put into the box, two things get pulled out! It's a good thing they're so cute. :) And it helps to know that this is the last move we'll be making for a while! It's still surreal that we are finally home owners. Yay!
In the mean time, I'm so grateful to family and wonderful friends who come over to watch our kids, bring meals and help us move. I'm always amazed at those people who just make service happen. Instead of saying, "Let me know if you need any help!" they say, "I'm coming over at 7:00 and I'm putting your kids to bed for you so you can have a break" (sister-in-law's are the best!) or, in the case of my friend, Chiara, she just showed up with dinner on her way over to the homeless shelter. Yeah, she's pretty amazing. Anyway, this whole experience has reminded me to look for opportunities to serve other people and take the initiative to not just offer but make it happen.

  2. So glad you have friends and family who take that initiative- it truly is the best! I missed church on Sunday because of really bad morning sickness and that evening a sister from the ward showed up unannounced with a roast chicken dinner and then this afternoon a friend texted me to say not to make anything for dinner tonight because she was bringing some over. I felt SO loved. That feeling is the best.
