dust in the wind

Oh gosh. We are exhausted around here. The moving, the cleaning, the mess, the chaos, the crying. Haha! I talked to my dad the other day and he reminded me that the renovations won't last forever. He's right and that reminded me of some advice I got at my first baby shower - "It came to pass... it didn't come to stay". It is so true with life. The hard times seem never ending but they'll pass. The good times seem to fly by as well and so it's important to not take them for granted. I just have to remember, often, that these "hard times" are really blessings. Yes, our house is messy and we have drywall dust everywhere but we have a house. Yes, my kids fight and scream and make me tired but I have three beautiful children. Yes, my body doesn't look or feel as good as it used to, but it is still doing amazing things and I'm so grateful for it.
Anyway, here's a little piece of our entry way. David removed the wallpaper and has since patched up the walls. The acrylic chandelier is pretty hilarious but part of me thinks it's kind of cool. I bet someone with incredible style, like Jenny at Little Green Notebook, could make it look deliberate. There's still a lot to be done but I just need to publicly acknowledge how hard David has been working. He goes to work really early every morning and has always worked long and hard, but he is officially the best guy ever. He has come to the house every single night and worked incredibly hard. I love you, DB.

My brother, Stephen, and sister-in-law, Leone, have been great as well. Stephen works a lot too and came over to the house several nights and stayed way into the night with David. Then, he (and his wonderful brother-in-law, Shon) helped us move in the pouring rain. He's such a good brother. Of course, since Stephen has been here at our house, Leone has had to hold down the fort at their house, which is rough! I'm so grateful to have family nearby.

To end this somewhat of a "downer" post (and I don't mean it to be - honest!), here's adorable Miss Louisa in her new pink bedroom (paint color is Benjamin Moore - Pensacola Pink, by the way). I just love this little doll.

  2. The instant I saw that chandelier (before I read your post) I thought, "That is the coolest thing ever!" It reminds me of a chandelier I saw at the glass shop on Bornholm that I wanted so badly! Definitely keep it!

    1. You think so? All my kids definitely look alike. :) And they're all super cute too, if I do say so myself.

    1. It's totally growing on me. It was AWFUL when paired with the brown and yellow motif wallpaper that was on the wall when we moved in (and it was metallic too!) but now that it's gone and we are painting the wall and pretty blue/green/gray, I think it might look a lot more clean and modern.
