on feeling pretty in red

This last weekend was David's work Christmas party in Dana Point. We love this weekend because we get to stay at a beautiful ocean side resort for free, get dressed up in fancy clothes, eat a delicious meal in a beautifully decorated ballroom and not worry about our kids for a whole 24 hours. My in-laws very nicely came and took care of Will + Fritz while we were gone and they had a great time with grandma and grandpa.
I loved getting dressed up (and loved not being covered from shoulder to shoulder with spit-up, boogers or baby food). In the last few years that we've gone to this party I have enjoyed planning my outfit. I have tried to find a flattering dress, take my time on my make-up and hair and do my best to look attractive - pretty standard stuff that women do. The trouble was that after I got all ready I'd look in the mirror and feel disappointed. I felt chubby and upset that after all that preparation, I still didn't look the way I felt inside. After making some huge changes to my life physically and mentally this year, I got ready for the party and felt really great. I felt attractive. I felt confident. It felt amazing! I am NEVER going back to the old me. The "me" that told herself she was just going to be "fat and happy" - I only had the first part of the equation going back then and I am so much happier than I knew being healthy could make me feel! Merry Christmas to me!

  10. Girl you look hot! Seriously- the change you have made is showing BIG TIME in this photo. You are rocking that dress! And yes, you really do need to do a post on how you got to this point - some of us girls are still saying, "I am going to be fat and happy..." Congrats again on an amazing accomplishment!

  11. TOTALLY feeling you on this one! SERIOUSLY. I was so excited to get dressed up this year for my husband's work party (I didn't get to go last year because I got stuck babysitting in-laws kids.) His was not nearly as awesome as yours- no beach side resort or 24 hours away from kids, but hey, it was a date, and those are rare around these parts so I was thrilled. Long story short- I ended up wearing the belly hiding baby doll dress I had worn to my now four year old son's blessing four years ago! Needless to say, I felt like you felt in the PAST. Nothing near the sexy momma I wanted to feel like. BUT you have given me hope- perhaps next year I'll walk into that party feeling H-O-T hot!
