little buns

I've been dreading the day that I have to potty train. I guess it might make my life easier in some ways but also harder in a lot of ways - like having to find a smelly public restroom everywhere we go. I'm not sure William is ready yet so I haven't really put any pressure on myself to make it happen, at least not until Frederick is a little older. Having two kids in diapers is not ideal but neither is potty training a two-year-old while holding a newborn all day.

I've been lucky so far (knock on wood) to have not had one of those often-heard diaper stories where the parent goes in the room to get the baby up from a nap and they've taken their diaper off and smeared poop on the wall. Please bless that I never experience that. Amen.

Will hates to have his diaper changed, but he wants me to know that he's messy. I often wait for him to get to a point where he asks to be changed, hoping that it will help him want to go in the toilet. Unfortunately, that makes for some pretty wicked diaper rash sometimes. It figures that he also hates diaper rash cream. I've tried at least three different diaper rash creams and none of them have worked very well, so when Bourdreaux's Butt Paste sent me some of their cream I figured trying it out couldn't hurt.

The first day I used it William had pretty mild diaper rash, but he did not want me to touch it so I knew it was sensitive and uncomfortable. I had to hold him down to put it on, but as soon as I rubbed it in he started giggling. Maybe it tickled, but the next day I noticed that the rash was gone so I'm going to bet that he giggled because it gave him some relief.

I've used it twice since then with the same results, so I guess it's safe to say that it works! Have you ever tried Bourdreaux's Butt Paste? Do you like it?

  1. My daughter suffers from what we call "red butt" whenever she eats chocolate. It makes her poop a lot and then she starts getting rashy.

  6. Potty training is magical when it is ALL done. We are in the midst of hoping that our boy will decide to use the potty. He can do it any where. The hinge on success is his WANTING to use the potty.

We've use the Butt Paste before and love the immediate results.

  9. i wish i had known you were unaware of butt paste - because i swore by it! one particular time, LBJ had a nutso rash that was basically bleeding in a few spots. so we put on tri-antibiotic first, and then butt paste. but otherwise, it was always just some butt paste. i love butt paste. i love just saying that phrase, because, hey, its funny!

  12. I used Desitin when I had my girls, after all...that's what my mom always used. After I had my son last year, a friend gave me some butt paste as a gift. OH MY! I have never seen a cream work so fast! My little guy had one of the worst red bottoms I've ever seen one morning. (he pooped in the night and never cried about it.) his poor bum was raw! I slapped some butt paste on it and WAHLAH! His bottom was good as new by that night! I now swear by the stuff!!

  13. There is no harm in waiting to potty train in my opinion. I like to wait until they are really ready and asking to go on the potty, etc. Until they are potty trained I LOVE using BUTT PASTE. When I had my first (Mae) we got 4 different kinds of diaper rash ointment. I guess people have had some horrific times with kids and diaper rashes. haha But my sister gave me a bag of all of her favorite things for newborns and herself and butt paste was in there. I've never used anything else since I opened that bottle. I love that it doesn't have some nasty smell like others and it really does work great. :) Good luck with potty training when you decide to.

  14. I have never tried Boudreaux's paste but I did diaper my four lil ones at various times and I swear by "Triple Paste". That stuff was like gold in our house. It can be purchased just about any place. Within 12 hours the redness was just about gone. Try it! I highly recommend it.

  15. Buttpaste is the best diaper rash product out there. 4 kids with sensitive skin and this has always worked for us. Put it on, and by the next diaper change, rash is gone!! We love it and buy the huge jug :) They also make a lip balm that is awesome for chapped lips and skin.

  16. Well, my children are grown, but I live in Louisiana, and you can bet that Boudreaux's Butt Paste is a staple around here. It is on shelves in all of the grocery stores, convenient store, you can really find it anywhere. Works awesome! It even works for adults who may work in the heat and kind of have the same symptoms but not necessariy "diaper rash"!

  27. Butt Paste is AMAZING! I've been using it for years and my children have never had a diaper rash more than a few hours. It's MAGICAL! I knew this about this product when my sweet little baby boy was born last year and I used it on him; despite what people say about breast-fed babies not getting diaper rash he would from time to time. So, I stocked up again and kept the rashes under control. But then, my son would get really bad rashes in his neck fat; starting off at the 10 lb. mark that he did he had a lot of fat rolls. ;) The creases of his neck would get so bad he would bleed whenever I cleaned him. I was going to use vaseline or just a little bit of powder, etc. but then I looked at the Butt Paste and thought it couldn't hurt. HOLY MOLY! It cleared up his fat crease rashes within hours and we've never had a problem again. I now put Butt Paste on all minor scrapes after they've been cleaned and it goes away fast without scarring. vpkl16@gmail.com
