a horrible combination

Well, dudes. I caught the sicks. Not just any sicks, either. The pneumonia sicks - at 38 weeks pregnant. It's pretty much the worst combination I've ever encountered. Basically this weekend has included a humidifier (since I've become a mouth breather and wake up with a righteous sore throat), cough drops (to suppress the dry, "unproductive" cough), water bottles, white grape juice (my mom's remedy) and . . . of course, the entire 8-disc Harry Potter series that I've been enjoying on David's laptop. Not pictured: lots of soup, antibiotics and an albuterol inhaler. Please pray that I get over this before I go into labor.
I'll tell you one good thing though. People are so nice. We've had meals brought to us almost every day since I got really sick, one friend brought over some natural remedies and another friend offered to come over to my house and de-germ this place. It reminds me how much I appreciate these acts of service and that I really need to pay it forward . . . you know, after I don't have pneumonia . . . and I have this baby.

  1. Liz, I am so sorry you are so miserable and sick. :( That seriously sucks SO bad (especially when you are pregnant!) I will be praying for your speedy recovery so you can be healthy and strong to deliver that sweet baby of yours. I was so sick not with pneumonia, but with a horrible cold) when I delivered Hudson and I don't wish that on anyone. Hang in there. I'm so glad that your friends are helping you out. What a blessing! I would be there in a second if I lived closer.

    Hugs,

    Erin

  2. Love your blog! You're one inspiring Mama!
I totally get ya - I caught pneumonia 2 weeks ago, at 36 weeks. Not fun. Keep taking those antibiotics and down lots of chicken soup. It took me just over a week to get back to feeling like myself (or a fatter, slower version of myself.) Good luck!

  5. I got pneumonia toward the end of my pregnancy and the medicine they gave me was not working. I ended up being sick for a week before I went back to the doctor and they gave me a Z-pack and it worked like a miracle. I was feeling a lot better just within two days, so if you don't start feeling better don't be afraid to ask for it. I hope it passes quickly!

  6. Dear Liz,
So sorry to hear you are sick. That is no fun at all!! Some programs you might enjoy from the BBC while you rest...Tales from a Green Valley, Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm. Also, Supersizers Go......to make you laugh. Take care and I hope you are feeling better very soon! Laura

  7. Oh my goodness, Liz, I am so sorry you've been so sick! Especially so late in your pregnancy when you're tired and in pain and ready to just be done. :( Your post reminded me how sick I was when I had Cate. I had totally forgotten about it until now, but I had a terrible, barking cough and cold the week Cate was born and for a few weeks afterward. It was no fun coughing that hard after a C-section. But hopefully you will be feeling much better very soon. I am praying for you and I'll check in with you later today to see if there's anything I can do for you . . .
