he's coming to town

Thank you all so much for the love last week. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions and reading your sweet comments and e-mails lifted my spirits. Many women mentioned their own miscarriages and that it's a kind of "club" you join when it happens to you. I hate that we have to belong to this club but I'm glad to have friends here. Blogging is a wonderful thing.

Our ward Christmas party was on Saturday night and I made this chocolate cake (well, just the mousse actually - I used my own favorite cake recipe). I had put it in the freezer at the church because I knew it would be better cold (isn't all chocolate cake?) but after dinner I kind of forgot about it. After almost everyone had hit up the dessert table I rushed in to get the cake and put it out for the last few dessert stragglers to taste. The whole cake was gone in about 5 minutes. I'm lucky I got a sliver because I had no idea how it tasted and I'm pleased to say it was delicious. Rich and ultra-chocolatey but delicious.
William's "happy place".
After dinner and some entertainment the Big Guy made an appearance and all the children lined up for him to hand them an m&m candy cane. I kind of embarrassed myself a little (or a lot) by shouting to David amidst the children stampede, "Get in line! Get in line!" I just had to get a picture of William meeting Santa Claus for the first time. I mean, isn't that a rite of passage?
And, just like the haircutting incident, he was calm as a cucumber. Seriously, I love this kid's temperament. He took the candy cane, gave Santa a good "stare down" and walked off the stage. Now, if he had to sit on his lap I'm not sure what would have happened. William just learned how to scream though so I have a good idea . . .
Will and Boston exchange candy cane pleasantries.

  2. Cute! I'm glad you captured the few calm moments of Bos. Seriously. Your primary kids did great, and your cake was amazing...Kyle sent me running to get a piece as soon as I told him you brought it out!

  3. He is so cute. Those photos will be precious to him when he's older (but if it would have been a photo of him screaming that could have been good blackmail for future dates).

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. You definitely have a new angel watching over you while they complete the duties heaven-side that he or she was called home for.
