gyo's drawings make me cry

My baby is so big that he doesn't sit in his infant car seat anymore. Wah! It breaks my heart a little bit but everyone's babies grow up and life goes on even when your little cherub loses the dimples in his hands and doesn't want to snuggle before naptime anymore. Whatever will I do with myself when that happens? Please tell me that I have something to look forward to when he's a teenager.
One of my favorite books to read to William is Ten Little Babies. The last page reads "One little baby alone having fun. He became a grown up and then there were none." I get choked up every time. I'm not sure why the author decided to end the book with a little baby growing up and leaving his mother but that's just cruel.
Am I dramatic or what? I definitely don't think I can keep this up.

In other news, David did all the dishes tonight after I made him his favorite Mormon enchiladas. This is something to look forward to after babies grow up: many, many years together with a man who does the dishes and buys Moose Tracks for me when he picks up tomatoes at the store.

  2. Yeah, I had the same thought as Frootie. What makes an enchilada Mormon?

  5. Well, as the mother of two teen-aged boys, I will testify that there are many wonderful things I enjoy with them. Don't get me wrong, I will cry buckets when they get married and are no longer "mine," but I truly believe there are wonderful things about each age of my children. I miss all the baby, toddler, preschooler, little boy, big boy, etc. stuff, but every age is a great age.

The thoughtful conversations I have with my boys about the world, their faith, our family, school, etc. are so wonderful, I wouldn't miss them for the world.

  6. Your little boy gets cuter and cuter all the time! I love the pictures you take of him. :)

I couldn't tell if William's new carseat is rear- or forward-facing, but I want to pass on an article that Sarah Rogan posted on fb. Apparently there are new guidelines that suggest leaving a child rear-facing until the age of 2 (you can read why in the article, rule #2). I'm not trying to be annoying, and obviously it's up to you and your husband, but the article really makes you think. Here it is:

  7. Everyone - "Mormon" enchiladas are different than the enchiladas I normally make because they are made with flour tortillas instead of corn and have a few different ingredients which make them substantially more casserole-like (a Mormon dish trademark). I didn't take a picture and I'm obsessed with including a picture with my recipes so if you're really interested in the recipe, you can e-mail me (elizabethabryant@gmail.com) and I'll give you the recipe.

Alicia, William's carseat is rear-facing for the time being though we will eventually change it to front-facing. Thanks for the concern!

  8. It's so fun to see your little family! I hated having to get a forward facing car seat, but it made for a happier baby!
