snack confession

I currently have a half-eaten bowl of steel cut oats, an apple, a chocolate slim fast (snack only) and a container of lowfat cottage cheese and tomatoes sitting on my desk at work. I won’t even begin to tell you what’s in my desk drawer. OK, maybe I will.

Trader Joe’s ginger cat cookies
Raspberry Herbal Tea
White Cheddar Cheez-Its (so sue me)
8 Luna bars (of varying flavors)
Turkey Jerky
Ak-Mak Sesame Crackers
1 Bag of Skittles

Don’t you love how my healthy food is out for all to see while my junk food is kept hidden?

In my defense, most of that stuff has been sitting in my desk since long before we moved to San Diego. Gross, I know, but preservatives are just doing their job. Please tell me your favorite healthy snack that keeps you going on those long days.

Or make me feel better by telling me your wicked treats that you love and keep hidden. You know you have them.

  1. I love to munch on edemame. Mmmm..

I also love all fruits, celery, and wheat thins with cottage cheese. (uh...maybe wheat thins aren't that healthy, but it is a current pregnancy craving.)

and...i am in love with candy corn right now. ;)

  2. I eat everything in front of me, so I'm not allowed to buy sweets. However, Halloween season is perfect b/c I can buy small packages of chocolate and then just take 1 or 2 to work with me.

    My favorite healthy snacks:
    bananas
    banana chips
    english muffins
    grapes & yogurt
    apples & cheese (havarti!)

  3. I eat everything that is served. Always.

Today though, I tried sliced apple with pear-jam and cinnamon.

And coffee with a tiny spoon of cinnamon. Yum.

The unhealthy are too many to mention...

  4. During my second pregnancy I started eating graham crackers with peanut butter and Nutella topped with another graham cracker. My youngest is 18 months now but don't worry I still ate it last night. This is also how I have s'mores just add a marshmallow.

  5. i'm an overly healthy eater but my weakness is peanut m&ms and cinnamon bears. i have a small handful of candy after every meal. i think sugar is necessary, i really really really do. sugar makes the world go round! good on you for all those healthy treats! for me the real problem lies in quantity over quality so i just try and keep the snackage low.

  6. When I was prego, I loved starburst jellybeans-- and normally I am not a candy person. Thankfully that only lasted for a couple of weeks. Another thing I craved were tina melts, but I could only eat them once a week because you're not supposed to eat too much tuna while you're pregnant. ha ha.

    Hang in there Lizzy!

  7. 100 Calorie Chocolate Bars from Trader Joes, soooo good. The problem is I forget they are only good for you if you eat one.

  10. Umm healthy? What's that? No I keep a bag of baby carrots in the fridge by my desk. Yes I have a mini fridge by my desk. Don't judge. But then I have 2 boxes of kettle corn the bottome drawer of my desk.
Oh but my co-worker keeps a fresh bowl of trail mix and dried fruit at her desk, even though I usually just pick out the almonds, or m&m's.
