being fed

We had a great weekend in our pajamas, eating lots of yummy food while enjoying LDS General Conference as a family. Many times, members of our church watch these sessions with hopes of getting answers to questions we have or gaining personal inspiration. For me, the most important lesson I gained was one of the love of Jesus Christ and the commandment to "love one another". I was particularly inspired by this talk by President Thomas Monson:

"Love is the very essence of the Gospel and Jesus Christ is our Exemplar... His life was a legacy of love... There are many attributes and manifestations of love; such as, kindness, patience, selflessness, understanding and forgiveness... Every day we are given opportunities to show love and kindness to those around us... Some of our greatest opportunities to demonstrate our love, will be within our own homes. Love should be the very heart of family life, and yet sometimes it is not... Blame keeps wounds open, only forgiveness heals."

I want to love as Jesus loves and feel renewed to show more kindness and understanding to those I come in contact with, especially in my own home.
Like a lot of Mormon families, I like to make cinnamon rolls for the Sunday morning session and this year was no different. I made this recipe and it was pretty good. I'm still trying to find my favorite but I don't think this one is it. If anyone has a stellar recipe, pass it on! I also made a mushroom, asparagus and Gruyere quiche with a rosemary crust and it was delicious. I'll post the recipe in a couple of days.

  2. I'm partial to the Pioneer Woman recipe for cinnamon buns. Makes a large batch easily, freezes beautifully, stays fresh tasting longer than most recipes and is so versatile that the fillings can be changed up on a whim and they always turn out lovely.

  3. Hi Liz! This are the ones I made yesterday and we loved them, definitely our favorite recipe. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/cinammon_rolls_/ I'm usually a cream cheese frosting kind of girl - but I really love these. (I usually half the recipe for the icing - it makes way too much and you can use pero or postum or something instead of coffee). I loved President Monson's talk - I feel like I need to listen to it every morning to keep me on track!
