and then there were three (er, five)

I guess it's time to announce that we are expecting another baby in the Bryant family! Number 3 is due at the end of June and we are excited, thrilled and also thoroughly terrified. I have heard "three is so hard" over and over again and it makes me really scared, so I'm bracing myself for 2014! That being said, I am also very excited to see this little baby and fall in love with him or her. I love to go back and read about how my pregnancies were, after I have had the baby. It's so fun to speculate about what life will be like with a new one! So here are a few things about this one so far:
The morning sickness with the pregnancy has been the worst, or so I think. It's hard to remember how I felt with my other pregnancies but it has definitely felt worse (having two other kids also seems to have something to do with that). I lost five pounds the first couple weeks I was pregnant, which is nice because I tend to pack on the pounds later on! I'm now 13 weeks and still haven't gained any weight, hoping to keep this up for a little while longer - although I haven't been able to comfortably button my pants for weeks! I definitely have a large belly, which is embarrassing considering how "not pregnant" I am.

I've been craving the weirdest things, like hardboiled eggs, jell-o and copious amounts of toast. Maybe those aren't so weird since they are all pretty bland foods to combat the nausea. I have also had strange aversions to certain favorite foods of mine: namely chocolate and peanut butter. It is a strange sensation to not want Häagen-Dazs chocolate peanut butter ice cream. :)

Of course, with two boys already, everyone has been asking me, "Are you hoping for a girl?" I can honestly say that I would be 100% happy with either. I love my boys and I love being a "boy mom" but having a girl would be very fun and challenging (gulp) too. David and I will definitely find out the gender (and I'll let you all know when it gets closer!) It's exciting to think about loving and knowing another little person that none of us has met yet!

  3. What wonderful news :) Congrats! It will be fun to follow your pregnancy! I'm due in April, but love reading about other moms going through pregnancy.

  4. Come on, why do you have to write about your weight like that? We can all do our part in leaving behind the obsession with pregnancy thinness by not talking about it at all.

But, big congratulations! You are a third of the way through!

  5. Congrats! #3 was probably the best and easiest transition for me. It was honestly blissful, especially since everyone had me terrified, too. #4 was definitely the harder transition for me. You might be pleasantly surprised!

  6. I thought having my third was an easier transition than having my second. When my third was born, the older two were less needy because they had each other. There wasn't one lone toddler still dependent on me for entertainment. :) You may find that's the case with your boys, too! Congratulations!

  10. Congratulations!! My third was definitely my easiest. I felt like I knew what I was doing and everything wasn't so nerve-wracking as a new mother (until my fifth baby showed me that I still had a lot to learn!) and I could relax and enjoy his babyhood..and my older two were so happy playing together! Best wishes for a wonderful pregnancy and delivery! Thrilled for you all--I love your blog and I like to think that we'd be friends if we ever met in real life. :-)

  11. I've been waiting for this one...since I'm on #3 and we've been pregnant at the same time with both others. I was Convinced I was going to be a boy mom, and then the universe zinged me with a Girl this time! Looking forward to your big reveal...

  12. aw, congrats! With my 1st, I had a total sweets aversion, too. Not just chocolate - but anything sugary. It lasted til a few months postpartum and then my sweet tooth came roaring back. ;) Congrats and best of luck on an easy pregnancy!! Now I feel like I should be announcing mine (though I have no plans for a 3rd) and your boys and my boys are very close in age. ;)

  13. Aww, congratulations!! How exciting!!! Hooray! :) I can't wait to find out what you're having, but either way, I know you will have an adorable little babe. Your boys are so, so cute! Hope you're surviving the icky first trimester okay- I'm sure it's exhausting with two kids to care for. But oh, I am so thrilled for you! :) sending love and hugs! :)

  14. Congratulations! So happy for you. Your sons are adorable and I enjoy your posts so much as the youngest of our five sons is now 18! Our third son and that transition was not difficult. I too had some hesitations, but your older sons are old enough to be helpers and they will step up and help out as you teach them and let them know you need their assistance. They can be great for getting things for baby, emptying and loading the dishwasher, sorting and folding laundry, and cleaning up toys.I found the earlier I taught these things, the more enthusiastic they were about learning them and their new skills blessed us all. Our third son is still the most thoughtful and considerate of me. He is quick to help out anyway I need, cleans up dishes without being asked, and always opens doors for me. Hope you get feeling better...great adventures ahead for you!
