dream car

Well folks - I'm officially a mom - we got a minivan! It has basically changed my life. Sounds ridiculous to say that but it's true. David and I have been talking about what our next car would be for months. He was really not excited about getting a minivan but after weighing all the pros and cons, the Honda Odyssey won. We were not planning on getting a bigger vehicle until we had another child because, well, it wasn't a necessity. Then when we moved to Arizona we realized that David's old truck had some issues with it that needed to be fixed and it was going to set us back a few thousand dollars. So, instead of investing more money in something that we were going to sell anyway, we decided to spend that on a family car.
I was super excited when we decided on the Odyssey but when I finally got the keys to it and drove home in my awesome new "space car", I was downright giddy. I get really excited when I have to run errands and William does too because he loves to push the buttons for the automatic sliding doors. He also got a new car seat/booster and now whenever I tell him that it's time to get in the car he says, "I get in my new car seat in the COOL car!" Just making sure he specifies, the "cool" car as opposed to my old, "lame" car!

P.S. Yes, it is ironic that my doppleganger is the girl from the Toyota Sienna commercials.
P.P.S. No, I'm not pregnant though this picture makes it look like I am. Note to self: don't wear that shirt anymore until you actually are pregnant.

  1. We've had an Oydessey since 2005 and love it. You will, too! The space and roominess is awesome for travel. My husband has terrible back issues and a minivan is the only vehicle that he is comfortable driving because it's like sitting in a chair (his feet aren't so far out in front of him). He's the one that drives it all the time! In the end, you might have to fight David for the keys!

  2. We just bought a Honda Odyssey, too! And I had the same feeling...okay, NOW I've arrived as a mom! When we were at the dealership looking at the Odyssey and the salesman was showing me the hooks for hanging grocery bags, the built-in window shades, the automatic push buttons for all kinds of things...I said "oh my gosh, it is like a mom designed this car!" LOL

  4. We are searching high and low for the perfect Odyssey, and we only have one kid! My husband is pretty stoked about it.

  5. Wooohooo!!! Mom car of all mom cars!!! I can't wait to get a sexy new odyssey! Until then, I'll enjoy not caring if my kids whack the doors into that shiny new BMW that parked to close to me, or Zane riding his bike handles along the side of my car as he rides down the driveway. Don't get me started on the spilled slurpees in the carpet and ice cream cone smeared on the ceiling of my Tahoe. I know I'm going to freak out about that stuff when I get a new car but oh well. Darn kids. They don't help support my OCD one bit.

  7. Congratulations on this, Elizabeth! I've driven an Odyssey once; it was my uncle’s. Its driving dynamics was awesome! It's not just pretty in appearance, but also in interior and down to its core. :D -->Mardell

  8. It seems that a lot of wonderful things are happening to you recently. I'm happy for you, Elizabeth! Buying a new car is better than spending money to repair your old vehicle. Your mini van suits with your family perfectly. And this is what you need since your family is growing. You need to have more space for all your stuff.
