asian cabbage steak salad

I made this delicious chopped Asian salad for dinner the other night and it was delicious. You can put anything in it but I like this combo. As for the dressing, I know it's really lame to tell you to buy a bottled dressing instead of providing a recipe but seriously the Newman's Own Sesame Ginger is delicious. I love it! Plus it's really low on calories and it's full of amazing flavor. I really recommend it. My ex-boss used to put it on her salad every day and when I opened up the bottle to put it on this salad I thought of her (Hi Wendy!) Isn't it funny how smells can elicit memories? Anyway, it's good. Try it. This can also be made with chicken which I think I'll try next time. The dressing makes a great marinade so I think next time I'll marinade some chicken in it for 6 - 7 hours before grilling. Yum.
Marinade:
1 pound skirt steak (or chicken breasts)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup canola oil
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon Sriracha hot sauce

Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl and pour over steak (or chicken) and marinate in a plastic bag for 6 - 7 hours. Grill and slice and serve with salad.

Salad:
2 cups napa cabbage, shredded
2 cups red cabbage, shredded
1 cup sliced mushrooms (I used baby bella)
1 cup thinly sliced red and yellow bell peppers
4 green onions, sliced
1/2 cup cilantro, minced
1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
Newman's Own Lite Sesame Ginger dressing

Toss all together and enjoy! If you have leftovers, I think it would make a great stir-fry!
