I hate funks.
So, it got me thinking about what makes me happy. What I can do to make myself less funkified? I've got to start small so here is what I am going to do this week and I'll report back next week:
1. Make my bed as soon as I get up. I've heard that doing your daily chores is supposed to greatly impact your happiness levels. A made bed always makes my day better.
2. Throw away all the leftover candy in the house (and don't buy anymore). I've heard that not eating a whole bag of Skittles by yourself is supposed to help with not feeling disgusting.
3. Use naptime more wisely (i.e. not on the computer). This is going to be a challenge but it seems that whenever I get off the computer to do what I really wanted to do during naptime is when the boy wakes up. Ahh, computers. They are a blessing and a curse.
this is the kind of unproductive thing I usually do during naptime. |
i totally understand that funk! and yes, a lot of it for me has to do with ther internet.
ReplyDeletei have also learned that if i put on loud, energetic music it helps! :)
also, good thing with candy - it will make such a difference! :)
good luck! and i love what you designed!
I've realized that if I can get myself out of bed and accomplish something before my little girl wakes up then I'm less likely to fall into this trap you talk of. It definitely is real!
ReplyDeleteIf I get up and get dressed right away like to work out I find that I get motivated to work out and get my house cleaned up so I can get a nice shower before my babe tries to climb in with me. And Amen to the candy!
ReplyDeleteI make my bed first thing every morning and make sure that my room is neat and tidy and it DOES make a difference! If the day starts to get away from me and I find myself getting caught up in my four gorgeous children and everything that comes with them, I retreat to my room for a few minutes and get back to calm.
ReplyDeleteAnd I keep lots of sugar free pudding on hand for when I need my sweet fix!
Sunshine! A little sun brightens my day and makes me feel energized. Whenever I get in a funk I forget about how terrible my house looks and take the kids to the park. Or I go sit in the backyard and soak up some Vitamin D.
ReplyDeleteWorks every time.
It's funny, your mother came to my bridal shower and everyone gave advice. Her advice was that everyday you get up and get dressed and ready for the day (make up and all) first thing. I have to excercise first and then I get dressed and ready for the day. I always admired your mom and so I have successfully followed that advice for 37 years.
ReplyDeleteThank Mary!
the bed thing is a for sure thing! And the skittles thing...well I don't do peanut m&m's anymore haha. And naptime...I am in the same boat...so I started to make it a goal that for the first 30 minutes sage is asleep I read...an actual BOOK. Who knows how long it'll last!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have much advice because I do the same thing - not during naptime since I don't have a baby at home - but during school hours! I waste so much time online - but I just had to tell you that I was cracking up at the cute Monogram letters you posted and then what you said about them. Seriously, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy lizzy, I hear ya! I also spend way too much of naptime a.k.a. all of nap time on the computer and then I feel way behind and so I've been doing exactly what you said, run around and get all the chores done and then hop on the computer, getting dressed cute for me myself and i always helps and making lists. I mark off the items and it feels so good. This isn't very good english, sorry just realized i've left all the grocery's on the floor while spending too much time on the computer, how could i forget them?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals, girlie. However, you're not the alone with the "funks". We all wish we could be "funk-free" ;)
ReplyDeleteCome to my house and we'll be in a funk while the boys play. Oh wait, I'm supposed to be helping rid you of those. I will let you know as soon I figure it out for me too! However, you funks are much cuter than mine. I love those letters!
ReplyDeleteI've never commented on your blog before but I've been thinking about this whole "funk" business the last few days myself. Here are some things that I've noticed really help me get out of my funk and have a more positive day... I try to stick to some sort of schedule (gym at 9:00, nap at 11:00...)- nothing super strict though. I know I always feel better when I've worked out. I have also really limited my computer time. I only allow myself to check a handful of blogs now. As far as nap time, I work from home so I have learned to take nap time very seriously- it is the only time I allow myself to work. I also made a New Year's resolution to read from the Ensign every day (I do it while at the gym) and I feel like that has helped a lot as well. Hopefully this makes sense, its nice to know there are others out there trying to figure it all out as well!
ReplyDeleteWorking out also helps me. Even if it's just a 30 minute walk. I always feel like I accomplished something then. Hope you feel better...I know how those funks can be!
ReplyDeletebut they are cute........at least you have something to show for it- nap time I mean. :0) you need to print those up girl!
