pity party

My 26th birthday was yesterday and I can honestly say that it wins the "worst birthday ever" award. If you've ever had a baby with a 104.5 temperature then you can sympathize. Or if that baby, whose beautiful brown eyes are now glassy and sad, only wants to lay his sweaty body over yours while he moans in pain then you can sympathize.
taking a nap with daddy on Saturday afternoon.
We spent most of my birthday in the Children's Hospital ER and the concensus is that he has a viral infection. Luckily nothing major but it is still awful and I hate when my baby is sick way more than when I'm sick. The only good thing (if you can call it that) is that being sick made him extra snuggly and all he wanted was me (which was a very wonderful gift for this affectionate mama). But I'd rather have my happy, cheerful, sweet, exploring baby who pulls all his books off his shelf.

  2. No fun with the sick part, but I hear you with the cuddles. That's how my little girl is too. And those pictures are adorable!

  6. Poor baby! That sounds like a "mommy" birthday for sure. The only part of my kids being sick that I can handle is that they are extra snuggly. Hope he's better soon! (Oh, and I'm not a dr., or trying to be, but all my kids at about that age had roseola measles. . .super high fever for a few days, then a rash. . .)

  7. Poor man. Praying he gets back to his pulling books off the shelf self in no time.

  8. Calvin had the exact same thing two weeks ago. Up to 104 fever, for 4 days. The doctor was concerned and wanted to check his kidneys and do lab work, but it went away before we did that. I am convinced it was a bad teething episode. Every doctor will tell you that teething does not cause fevers, but almost every mom will testify that it does. Hope things are better now.

  9. There is nothing that makes you feel more helpless as a mother than when your baby is sick and you can't really go anything to make it better. I hope he starts getting back to his busy normal self soon. Happy late birthday.
