My first Mother's Day was lovely. After I reminded David that mothers are supposed to sleep in on Mother's Day, he whisked William out of bed with me and let me get some extra rest (which I feel slightly guilty about now since he had to go into work on Saturday, meaning Sunday was his only day this week to sleep in - he's such a good husband).
My boys got me flowers, a sweet card and David took a special trip to the store to pick out groceries for me to cook while he took care of William. I know that sounds like not a great Mother's Day gift but David knows it was a treat to be able to cook without interruption from the babe. I made a variety of things: Soy-Honey Rosemary marinated Flank Steak with Potatoes au Gratin with Gruyere as well as Mango Chili marinated Grilled Shrimp with Pineapple Corn Relish. It was delicious even if we did have to eat off our laps on the couch because our dining table is covered in boxes and tools.
If you can't already tell from just about every single one of my blog posts, I really love being a mother. But I also really love being a wife to my wonderful husband. Motherhood has taken a lot of attention away from David and he is so patient and understanding with my balancing act of affection. I really am a lucky, lucky girl.
We both have such great husbands. I told Steve the same thing that I wanted to sleep in on Mother's Day. I felt bad because Parker decided to wake up at 5:30 yesterday morning and Steve jumped right up so that he wouldn't wake me! He is such a good husband! We sure have great husbands and babies!! Happy Mother's Day!
