last night, david and I went to christian and stephanie’s house. we turned on the lights while I unintentionally took a deep breath before looking around. whoever was there last seriously cleaned up. that wonderful “lived-in” smell is still drifting around the kitchen curtains and the light blue loveseat layered with bright pillows – it’s so fitting.
we let jimmy roam the house (and almost kill himself with the excitement of it all) while I gave him plenty of ear rubs and happy greetings. we packed christian’s car full of clothes, shoes and stephanie’s pretty necklaces. man, she seriously has some envy-worthy loot. and speaking of loot, that’s what I felt like doing to her things . . . but I didn’t. I promise, steph.
we filled jimmy’s bowl with fresh water and he followed us outside where he meekly curled up on his striped bed without complaint (can a dog complain?) – he’s a good dog and I told him so.
we attempted to put the car’s clutch into reverse but eventually ended up pushing it out of the garage in neutral - really should figure that out before attempting to drive it to utah tomorrow. since david has very little manual transmission experience this should make for an interesting trip. luckily, I drove an old jetta a few years ago . . . or maybe that’s not so lucky.
on saturday morning, we are taking off for watsach country to deliver the car (and its contents) to christian. I can’t wait! I get to see:
this little chicken
and this one
and this one
and this one.
and I’m oober-thrilled about getting to see this chick too!
I’ll be honest, the thought of seeing mr. nicholas after a 3-month hiatus about sets me into conniptions of excitement! I hope he remembers me. I won’t be back until tuesday night but I promise to have lots of pictures when I return.
Have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteI'd have conniptions too!
You have great self control! I would be in ho heaven with all Nie's necklaces and earrings :)
good luck with the drive! how long will it take? the good thing is i bet you will both be pros at standard by the end of it!

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you will get to see that long list of people, including me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a welcome trip! Good luck with the manual, but I am sure it will all come back to you quickly.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Bringing home clothes, a car, and gorgeous jewelry. You are going to be the favorite visitor this weekend! Don't forget presents for the munchkins... Enjoy spoiling them and getting your fill of kisses and cuddles!
You amaze me, Lizzy. Have fun, be safe - and bundle up!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you! Have a safe trip! You're doing an awesome thing. I feel like I know you guys and I don't! You're in my prayers!!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip! Quick question- Have you been taking care of Jimmy all this time? I've always wondered who had Jimmy. I hope Jimmy's moving to Utah as well so he can be close to his family! (Sorry, I love animals...)
ReplyDeleteLiz, I hope you and David have a safe trip.
ReplyDeletejordie - I love animals too and you would smile if you knew how much christian adores jimmy. he almost cried once just thinking about the inevitable day when jimmy will get old and pass on. jimmy has been well taken care of by a friendly neighbor who also has a dog. I hear they got along very well.
ReplyDeletejimmy will eventually be moved to utah as soon as christian and stephanie are able to take care of him and also get their things in order. thanks for the concern for our canine family member! :)

Safe travels! What an exciting new chapter is about to be written in all your lives. Oh, and consider this advice from Susan Heller: "When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money." Works for me every time!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for updates, and pictures. I will be checking in next week. Have a safe trip, good luck with the driving, and please know we are thinking and praying for you.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how hard this was on you--you're so strong!
ReplyDeleteI just thrilled to bits that they are finally getting to be together again as a family. I know the road ahead is still a long and difficult one but what a joy that they are now on it together again.
ReplyDeleteMany more prayers and well wishes as you travel to Wasatch Country. Travel safely especially in that car, it sounds a bit treacherous.
It's nice to hear about Jimmy once again also. Thanks for the post!
Travel safe and know that I am praying for your safe travels! Enjoy your time with the kids and your brother and sister-in-law :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings for a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteThats awesome that you guys get to go up there and see all of the kids! Drive safe and have fun! Love you girl!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an exciting weekend! Please give big hugs to Christian from his fan club. We love him...and we love how he loves Stephanie. He is one tough, good looking dude!
ReplyDeleteHave a safe and fun filled weekend!
Have a safe trip filled with laughter!!!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to the pictures! have a nice time :-)
ReplyDeleteFor a minute I felt bad for Jimmy. I forgot all about him. When is he going? :)
ReplyDeleteHave a love-filled trip.
And Happy Thanksgiving.
Hope you had a great trip and a wonderful holiday! Love your red shirt in that photo :) Wanted to let you know I put a little tribute to Stephanie in my Thanksgiving post...I'm sure you get tons of people doing things like this, but I figured I'd still let you know about mine. Also curious to see what you think of my fireplace/mantle idea (if you have a chance to look!) that I posted. You have such a good design eye!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Sara
