feeling prayers

Know what I hate? When your husband’s truck gets stolen in the night. Big, fat bummer. On a happier note, my lovely sister-in-law wrote my family this e-mail about Christian:

Christian was cinched up in his new back brace and strapped into a fancy chair when Peter and I saw him yesterday. He was in a sitting position after 17 days at "30 degree maximum" as he put it (that's the most incline he is allowed in the bed). It was so fun to hear his voice, though it's not quite his yet. He was laboring to talk and to stay alert, but he had his humor and was coherent.

As we were saying goodbye, he swelled with thanks for our visiting him and then he spoke so beautifully about prayer that I wrote it down after we left so I wouldn't forget. He said, "Thank you for the prayers. I feel them. I feel them. I've needed them more this past week (17 days, but who's counting) than I ever have in my life. And there have been times in here when I needed them so badly, and I could feel them. Keep them coming."

(love this picture of Christian and Ollie)
Thank you all SO much for your prayers. Please "keep them coming"!

  4. Liz, Keep looking for that truck. In our 1st month of marriage, we had 2 trucks stolen. Within 3 months we found them both. Not the police, US!
I love the what Darren wrote. Prayer is an amazing thing.

  8. I don't know you or your family but I heard about this from Jen (Practically Perfect in Every Way). My family has been praying for Christian and Stephanie every day, every prayer. I just pray that they will be able to heal and get to raise their children again.
We can't donate money because we don't have any but I just wanted to let you know that this stranger will keep praying. So will my husband, my 9 yr old son and my 3 yr old son.

  9. Thank you for sharing the e-mail about Christian feeling prayers. I read it and then cried when I read it to my family. My husband asked me to send him a link to it. (I hope that is ok.)

I am one of those people who follows all of this because of blogs (and I used to live in the Clarks neighborhood years ago).

    Thanks again for sharing.

  10. Hi, I am sure you don't know me. I am Bethany Rudd (not the one on your friends--our husbands are cousins and they happen to have the same taste in women's names). My husband (Tait) and I are friends of Christian's from High School but haven't seen them since BYU. I just wanted to say, what I sure thousands of other have said and are thinking, we have all come to love and care for Christian, Stephanie and their children, as well as your family. This whole thing is awful and makes me heart hurt but it has inspired both my husband and I to live better and to be more appreciative of living. Thank you for sharing this story with so many people that you don't know but hwo really really care about the lives of this little family. We hope that the kiddos will be able to be with Christian soon! We will always be thinking about them and praying for them.
