A few weeks ago I was at the mall by myself (an extremely rare heavenly occurance) and saw that they had recently opened a Zara store so I decided to stop in. The only time I had ever been to a Zara store was in Paris in 2001 and I was able to find a whole bunch of great clothes with the exchange rate being what it was at the time. A few years later I went to one of their stores in New York City and quickly realized I couldn't afford to shop there, so when I walked by the one in San Diego I figured it was going to be the same deal. Nevertheless, I decided to stop in just to have a look around (a luxury only afforded to those without children on them at the time). As soon as I walked in I saw a little glimmer at the back of the store and it looked like children's clothing. I made a beeline for that area and was shocked when I saw that their clearance stuff was cheaper than Old Navy! I got two adorable wool blazers for William for $5, several cute shirts, some shoes and other things for under $50. I couldn't believe my luck. William had almost outgrown all his clothes and Fritz (while he mostly wears Will's hand-me-downs) had to have a couple new things because they were so cute and only a couple of dollars.
This Sunday I decided I just had to get William to wear one of his blazers before it got too hot. I knew it wouldn't fit him by the time it was cool enough in Arizona again but I also knew it was going to be a struggle to get him to put it on. I mentioned this to my mom and she (being full of amazing wisdom) suggested that I put a little treat in his pocket and tell him it's a secret. I thought it was worth a shot so I grabbed a handful of mini marshmallows and whispered to him that I had a secret pocket for him in the blazer with a special goodie in it. His eyes lit up and he couldn't wait to put it on! My mom strikes again! Doesn't he look adorable?
Isn't he the perfect son in law! (-; His eyes, his smile, his appearance - lovable!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Will, you dapper little man you :)
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced. GrandMary is a Unicorn...and a genius.
I love shopping Zara kids! Free shipping on anything!
ReplyDeleteThey have a store in SF I've visited. I checked out their online shop, and is it me, or do they not have a sale section online? Guess I'll have to wait for the store for the good deals. Love that blazer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect idea! :) Will keep that in mind for later :) And he is such a handsome boy!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That is pure genius! (This is a major advantage to having a surprise baby 7 years after the other 4-you get to try out these clever new tricks!) Halloween costumes, Easter dresses, the possibilities are endless! So exciting. He looks beyond adorable. I love Zara! I got Ella a knitted wool peacoat there for $10 when she was about 7 months old. She has been wearing it since then (and still today) and she's almost 2! Somehow it has grown with her. ;) It was long and now it's more cropped but the arms still work. Best buy ever. It's the cutest thing she owns. :)
ReplyDeletelove Zara and LOVE your mom's wisdom! you need to share her secrets more often! :) William looks soooo cute :)
