how come no one warned me how much I would adore him?
well, in all fairness, some of you just might have warned me. many of you have asked for details of the birth, so here's the short version. I went into labor at 3 a.m. on sunday and after a long walk in balboa park and several warm baths at home we finally made it to the hospital by 8 p.m. and the little guy was born on monday morning just before 10. that's a lot of hours. let me tell you.
he weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. you should see how his clothes fit - it's quite funny because he's really tall but skinny. luckily, he's a great eater so he's fattening up nicely (those cheeks and lips kill me).
this last week has included lots of late night feedings, plenty of kisses and (probably) gallons of tears shed from gratitude for a healthy, sweet baby (though I'm sure hormones contributed as well). I'm not gonna lie - it's hard but it's so worth it.
Congratulations! He's darling!
ReplyDeleteMy first took a while, too. Water broke at 6am on a wed. And he was born at 330pm the next day (33 1/2 hours).
Glad everything went well, hope your getting some rest. :)

Liz, to be honest, I think a lot of newborns look pruney (mine included). But your little guy is gorgeous! Way to go. It does get easier...I swear. Just write it all down, because it is fun to laugh about how insane you were, when you return to sanity in, oh- about a year. Hang in there. Get a Blockbuster account and catch up on every movie you've been wanting to see your whole life. Seriously-
ReplyDeleteit works.
