thirty-two years

It's my 32nd birthday today. I know in the grand scheme of things, I'm not really that old but by golly - I miss my 20s! Haha! With age, comes some really great things like wisdom, experience, authenticity and perspective. I'm still learning all those things but I feel like I'm really gaining a lot more of these characteristics each year. I went out with some friends on Saturday night (David secretly planned a girls night out for me, which was so sweet of him) and we took this selfie. It makes me happy every time I look at it because I was laughing so hard at how difficult it was to get all of us in the shot.
Here's to another year of growth, acceptance and laughter. I love to laugh and I hope that this year will include more of it. If you want to make my birthday, can you leave a comment with your best joke, anecdote, embarrassing story, funniest thing your kid(s) have said? I would really love to read it!

Love you all!

  1. I've read your blog for years! and this is probably my first comment, so Happy Birthday!

Here's my embarrassing story of the day: my five year old girl loves to tell this joke:

"How do you catch a polar bear?
You cut a hole in the ice and line up some peas around it. When the polar bear comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole."

She doesn't get why the joke is funny, so it's all cute and innocent, but this morning we met her new kindergarten teacher and the first thing she did was tell her this joke 😂😳

  3. My granddaughter was listening to the radio this weekend and she turned around and asked her mother "mom, is that Justin Beaver". I really had to snicker over that!

Happy Birthday and hope it is a great day!

  4. My 4 year old son is constantly asking me to marry him. He usually whispers and has decided that if we don't tell Daddy then we can be secretly married. The other day my husband overheard him ask me for the 1000th time if I would marry him and he told my son that wasn't an option. My son said under his breath as he was walking away, "Well, if you'd back off my woman it would be possible." We laughed so hard. I love that crazy kid!

    1. When my son was five, we were getting his haircut to start school. I asked him how short he wanted it. He said he wanted it bald like his uncle. I asked if he was sure, and he said he wanted it smooth like a butt but without the crack. He still "cracks" me up!

  8. Happy Birthday, Elizabeth! I'm so glad you had a fun night out with friends, laughing like that is just the best.
My favorite funny things that kids say is when they get a phrase or figure of speech wrong. For example, my boys call a dog pile "DOG STACK!" It makes my husband and me laugh so hard every time.
